2025 Black Crows Octo Birdie Skis
Taking its inspiration from the Mirus Cor, the all-new Octo Birdie is a quick and energetic frontside carver with a unique newschool twist. While its shape isn’t as extreme as the Mirus Cor, the Octo Birdie’s short turning radius and significant sidecut nevertheless give it incredible quickness for a super fast transition from edge to edge. The profile and shape of the ski add a more modern feel, making it an impressively fun and capable frontside ski.
Why we like it:
We love that the Octo Birdie blurs the line between frontside and newschool, providing a high performance carving feel while maintaining the versatility of more progressive skis.
Who it's for:
Intermediate to advanced skiers who like to make a variety of creative turn shapes on piste.
Highlights:
A poplar wood core and fiberglass provide stability and energy to this exciting ski, while an aluminum insert in the relatively flat tail enhances stiffness, boosting you out of each turn and into the next. A touch of rocker in the front makes turn initiation a breeze and allows the skier to dictate turn shape more easily, resulting in a ski that’s incredibly responsive and precise, while also being relatively intuitive and easy to ski.
Things to consider:
The Octo Birdie isn’t for everyone, and there are better options out there for skiers who want to spend a lot of time off piste. Aside from the aluminum in the tails, the Octo Birdie doesn’t have metal in it, so those who prefer the absolute top end of performance on a carving ski may find this to be too soft for them.
Fit & sizing considerations:
These ski true to size.
