2025 K2 Excavator Snowboard
The name says it all, the Excavator from K2 is a high-performance all-mountain board that can dig trenches down groomers and plow through even the deepest powder days. Built with the stability you need charge without sacrificing weight or maneuverability. This volume shift board allows you to downsize to help with control without losing any floatation or edge hold when you need it. A great option whether you are exploring the back country or trying to make the most out of what the resort has to offer.
Why we like it:
The Excavator provides excellent versatility in variable snow conditions giving you the ability to plow through the cruddiest conditions and providing superior flotation in deep snow, but don't let the shape fool you, this board still excels on groomers and gives you plenty of spring-loaded energy and response to rail turns at high speeds.
Who it's for:
The moderate flex on the Excavator is ideal for intermediate to expert riders looking for a high-performance board to handle a variety of terrain. Great for deep powder days out west or carving down hard packed east coast groomers, this board does not hold you back no matter the terrain or conditions.
Highlights:
The ICG™ 10 Carbon Fiberglass uses a fiberglass weave along with 10 carbon stringers that run tip to tail to provide some added response without any unnecessary rigidity. The Carbon Power Fork™ inserts in the tail help hold you in the turn and prevent washing out in icy conditions. The SnoPhobic Topsheet prevents snow from sticking to the topsheet so you don't get bogged down when the snow is deep.
Things to consider:
The directional shape and the taper in the tail makes this board a little harder to ride and land switch but this helps provide excellent float in deeper snow. The camber profile gives this board great stability but can make it easier to catch an edge and fall for more entry level riders.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The Excavator is a Volume Shift™ board so you would want to downsize 4-6 cm from your normal size.
