Hestra Leather Balm is a must-have product for anyone that has leather gloves made from cowhide or goatskin leather. Whether your gloves are full leather or just partial leather (like the palm only) this leather palm is designed to protect your gloves and keep them performing at their best for years to come. This balm helps prevent the leather from drying out where it is most easily damaged from cracking and abrasion. It also retains a very soft, supple feel, which is part of the reason we all love leather gloves in the first place. Perhaps most importantly for us skiers is the fact that this balm boosts water repellency and is a great way to keep your gloves functioning as well as they possibly can in snow and wet winter weather. Apply it first with a polishing cloth or rag and rub the balm into the leather until it is completely saturated. Hestra recommends using this product on goatskin and cowhide gloves specifically and notes that deerskin, elk leather, and hairsheep, materials often found in dress gloves, do not absorb the balm as well. Hestra also notes that this leather balm may cause a slight change to the color of your leather, especially if it is a light hue to begin with.
